Can I Run Counter-Strike 2? PC Requirements & FPS Check
Compare the official Counter-Strike 2 PC system requirements with your hardware, then review modelled FPS ranges for a Ryzen 5 5600X and RTX 4070 at 1080p, 1440p and 4K.

What will matter most on your PC?
These bars are model signals, not publisher benchmarks. They explain why the same requirements can feel different at 1080p, 1440p and 4K.
Smoke, player counts, physics and high frame-rate targets can expose CPU and memory limits even when the game launches easily.
The official GPU floor is modest, but higher resolution and visual effects still affect the GPU when you target a high refresh display.
Valve publishes an 8 GB minimum and no recommended tier. Keep background applications closed and judge the result from 1% lows.
How to get a trustworthy answer
A useful “Can I run it?” answer has three layers. Follow them in order so a green minimum check does not get mistaken for a guaranteed FPS result.

Compare componentsQuick answer
Counter-Strike 2 can run on a PC that meets the official minimum, but meeting that tier does not guarantee your preferred resolution, settings or frame rate. High-refresh competitive play can expose CPU and memory limits well before a basic launch check does. Compare the official tiers first, then model and test your exact build.

The same hardware can meet a different practical limit at each resolution. These native High estimates use 16 GB RAM, 3200 MT/s memory and NVMe storage.
| Resolution | Estimated FPS range | Estimated 1% low | Likely limit |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1080p | 231–299 FPS | 202 FPS | CPU |
| 1440p | 175–227 FPS | 153 FPS | CPU |
| 4K | 101–131 FPS | 88 FPS | GPU |
These are modelled planning ranges—not measured Counter-Strike 2 benchmarks. Patches, scenes, thermals, drivers, modes and settings can change the real result.
Read the range
Average FPS is only one part of the answer
The lower end of the range is a planning guardrail. The 1% low helps explain stutter and uneven delivery, while the likely-limit column tells you which component to investigate first.

Make your result repeatable
Use the same workshop benchmark or practice route with identical launch options and a fixed frame-rate target.
- Use the same resolution, preset, upscaling and frame cap.
- Capture average FPS, 1% lows, temperatures and utilisation.
- Change one setting at a time and keep the comparison fair.
Will a Ryzen 5 5600X bottleneck an RTX 4070 in Counter-Strike 2?
There is no useful universal answer without a resolution, preset and frame-rate target. At 1080p and high refresh rates, the Ryzen 5 5600X can become the practical ceiling sooner. At 1440p and 4K, the RTX 4070 usually carries more rendering load. This does not make the pairing incompatible: compare average FPS, 1% lows, frame time and measured utilisation in a repeatable Counter-Strike 2 scene before replacing hardware.
Choose a sensible starting preset
1080p high refresh
Start at High, test a demanding repeatable scene and reduce CPU-heavy options if frame-time spikes remain processor-related.
1440p quality
High is a useful baseline. Adjust upscaling and the heaviest effects separately so you can see what actually changes the limit.
4K or heavy effects
Expect the GPU and VRAM budget to matter most. Watch 1% lows and avoid treating a higher average as proof of smooth delivery.
Verify before buying an upgrade
- Use the current game patch and a clean, current graphics driver.
- Repeat the same route, replay or built-in benchmark with identical settings.
- Record average FPS, 1% lows, frame time, CPU/GPU utilisation and temperatures.
- Change one setting at a time and compare the result before blaming one component.
If GPU utilisation is low while frame time is inconsistent, investigate CPU, memory, thermals and background load before buying a graphics card.
Counter-Strike 2 compatibility FAQs
Can my PC run Counter-Strike 2 if it only meets the minimum requirements?
It may launch and run at the official minimum tier, but smoothness depends on resolution, settings, background load, drivers and the current game build. Treat minimum requirements as a supported starting point.
How much RAM and storage does Counter-Strike 2 need?
The official minimum lists 8 GB RAM and 85 GB available space. Keep additional free storage for patches and allow memory headroom for Windows and background applications.
Is Counter-Strike 2 more CPU- or GPU-intensive?
Either component can become the practical limit. Lower resolutions and high frame-rate targets tend to reveal CPU limits; higher resolution and heavier visual settings tend to increase GPU and VRAM pressure.
Are these FPS estimates guaranteed?
No. They are modelled planning ranges. Verify them against current independent benchmarks and a repeatable test on your own PC.
