How to interpret the result

Start with Strong fit and Meets target, then open any game in the detailed FPS calculator to test upscaling, memory speed, storage and anti-aliasing. A result is a planning estimate, not proof that a game will run at the same FPS in every scene.

Calculation methodology

Each game uses the same versioned FPS model as the detailed calculator. The model combines an editorial game reference profile with normalized CPU and GPU positioning, resolution, quality, memory capacity and an uncertainty range.

The calculator runs in your browser from the values you select. Estimates use transparent planning rules and the site’s normalized hardware data; they are not lab benchmarks.

Formula or model used

Per-game FPS range = calibrated game profile × CPU factor × GPU factor × resolution factor × quality factor × RAM/VRAM adjustments

Calculation steps

  1. Apply the selected CPU, GPU, RAM, resolution and quality to every maintained game profile.
  2. Calculate a midpoint, planning range, estimated 1% low and likely limiting component for each game.
  3. Group results against the selected target FPS and suggest the least-reduced preset that reaches the target midpoint.

Assumptions and limitations

  • Results are modelled planning ranges rather than measurements from your exact PC, game build or scene.
  • Drivers, cooling, power limits, background software, game patches and unsupported hardware details can materially change performance.
  • Only games with maintained profiles are included; a missing game is not evidence that the PC cannot run it.
