How to interpret the result
Productivity uses the raw normalized CPU ratio. Gaming is capped by GPU headroom, so a large CPU upgrade can show a smaller useful gain when the graphics card is already the slower component.
Calculation methodology
The productivity scenario compares normalized CPU scores directly. The gaming scenario compares effective system scores where CPU performance is capped by 110% of the selected GPU score.
The calculator runs in your browser from the values you select. Estimates use transparent planning rules and the site’s normalized hardware data; they are not lab benchmarks.

Calculation steps
- Calculate the proposed CPU score increase.
- For gaming, cap both CPU scores using GPU headroom.
- Report theoretical and useful gain plus core and power differences.
Assumptions and limitations
- Application scaling varies with thread count, architecture and software version.
- A normalized score cannot represent every game, compiler, codec or memory configuration.
